Weekend Recap

Thursday night, I met Howard at the bar for happy hour. I was sitting next to a guy that was probably our age, maybe a little younger. One of the servers was standing near the bar staring at him. Suddenly she asked the guy if she knew him from somewhere to which he replied probably but he didn't know where. She then says, "Oh! Aren't you the guy that always gets DUIs in the Hardees parking lot?" WOW! Way worse then getting called out as the Mega Touch girl. Apparently the first DUI was when he fell asleep in the drive thru when he was the next one to pull up. The second one was when he was waiting for breakfast to be served and he fell asleep in a parking spot. WINNER!

Friday we met Matt and Ivy at the bowling alley for a few games. Matt is really good and I've tied his score once but I'd never beaten him before. I won the first game 147 to 144! I lost the second game 161 to 162. One freakin point. And I choked on the tiebreaker 108 to 135. Good news is I crossed an item off my list :)

Saturday, we were planning on waiting around all day to go out and see some fireworks at night. But we got bored. So we went to play golf instead. Howard got his first par. He was actually putting for birdie but missed and settled for the par. He was extremely excited. It was a good thing we went ahead and went out early in the day because around 6 pm, it started raining and didn't stop. Most of the fireworks shows were postponed or cancelled. Yay. Happy 4th.

Sunday we watched the Roddick/Federer tennis match. It was incredible. Unfortunately, Roddick lost so I owe Howard dinner on Wednesday night. We are going to Olive Garden though so I feel like a winner anyway. We went to lunch at Texas Roadhouse and then lounged around the house the rest of the day.

This morning on my way to work on the parkway, I was going about 80 in the left hand lane. The speed limit is 70 so I was already speeding a little bit. I was going around a car in the right hand lane that was going to slow for me when all of a sudden a black car came up behind me out of nowhere. They must have been no more than 1 foot from my bumper tailgating me. I moved out of the way as soon as I could and watched the black car fly by me. Right at the moment, a glorious cop going the other way slowed down on the other side of the highway, made a U-turn in the median and flew after the black car. I don't know why that made me so happy but it did. But my elation was cut short when a brown lab ran out in front of my car five seconds later. Luckily I saw it in time and slammed on my brakes to narrowly avoid it. I have no idea what I would have done had I actually hit the poor thing.
